THE BOOK: Let’s Talk about Race: A workbook safe, honest and productive small group discussions is the book we need to have targeted discussions about race. Let’s Talk is sprinkled with reader friendly tables, charts, sidebars and hotboxes. It offers proactive, practical, simple steps to begin group race discussions.

Part One consists of six instructional chapters that explain how to begin race discussions and overcome obstacles to encourage safe, honest and productive discussions. Part Two presents a collection of eight essays each complete with discussion questions and homework.

Tensions are high and without open, honest dialogue amongst the races, they will explode. Race conversations, while uncomfortable, are essential to confronting those issues embedded deep within us and our neighbors. How can we expect to confront racism and prejudice and move towards reconciliation if we can’t even talk about it?

Let’s Talk will benefit anyone interested in deepening already established relationships. Anyone involved in a diverse school, family, community group or work environment will gain by using Let’s Talk to enhance interactions.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Author Angela Dion’s articles have appeared over 150 times in magazines and newspapers and Let’s Talk is her third book. She also speaks and writes on the subject of race in many venues.

As a black woman, half of a successful 20 year long interracial marriage and mother of a biracial son Angela knows firsthand how delicate the issue of race can be. Her passion in writing Let’s Talk is authentic and personal.

THE SEMINAR: If you enjoy the Let’s Talk about Race blog perhaps it’s time to take the next step with more personalized instruction. Angela has developed a seminar presentation Let’s Talk about Race: without offending, feeling guilty or compromising.

If you hate Diversity Trainings because they seem to be a platform for making white people feel guilty and putting all minorities in the same box, this is the seminar for you. Angela provides a safe and comfortable environment and gives practical steps to purposefully discuss race. This interactive seminar is perfect for community groups, businesses, classrooms and churches. Leave equipped to open the dialogue with friends, family and coworkers.

During this interactive seminar participants will

·         Learn and practice the essential tools required for purposeful and effective conversations about race.

·         Get equipped to open the dialogue actively and confidently with friends, family and coworkers.

·         Define and recognize hesitancies that prevent frank and honest discussions.

·         Be allowed to freely speak their truth without hidden agendas or platforms.

As a motivational speaker and counselor Angela has spoken in a variety of venues including business trainings, public schools classes, church retreats, jails and courthouses. Angela’s passion and gift is to teach and speak inspirationally and motivationally. Angela can share that passion at your next event.
